Mary Jane Dade Hultin, 92, born March 5, 1927, in Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away on January 6, 2020, in Kingsport. She is survived by her three brothers, Douglas Dade and wife Charlotte; Robert Dade; and William “Sandy” Dade and wife Ann; two granddaughters, Medora Snyder and Katlin Snyder; one grandson, William Snyder; son-in-law, Chris Snyder; nieces, Susan McConnell, Carolyn Elizabeth “Cari” Dade Crawford, and Emily Dade Kohl; nephews, Stephen McConnell, Robert “Bobby” Dade, and Johnathan Dade. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert Beverly Dade and Ellen Drucilla Jones; sister, Beverly Dade McConnell; daughter, Ann Elizabeth “Betsy” Hultin Snyder; brother-in-law, J. Fred McConnell; sister-in-law, Rebecca Dade; and former husband, Kenneth Hultin.

Jane graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1945. In 1948 she received her Registered Nurse certification from Pensacola Hospital School of Nursing in Pensacola, Florida. As a public health nurse with the Sullivan County Health Department, she gave polio vaccines to students at Washington, Jackson, Douglass, and West View Elementary Schools during the polio epidemic of 1955. Later, Jane was employed for 27 years by Holston Valley Medical Center as a registered nurse with 14 of those years working as the supervisor of the Ambulatory Surgical Unit. She also organized and supervised the Short Stay Unit which is currently known as the Same-Day Services Unit. In addition, she was a nursing supervisor on the second floor of the hospital. Jane was a UT fan and an avid bridge player who enjoyed playing in several bridge groups and duplicate bridge groups.

A family inurnment will take place at a later date.

The family extends thanks to Jane’s good neighbors in Ridgefields Commons and to Madison House Assisted Living, Holston Valley Medical Center, Asbury Place, and Amedisys Hospice who provided her with excellent care during her declining health.
