Mary H. Moore

Mary Moore, 78, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 12, 2019 in Holston Valley Hospital from complication of ITP.  Her husband of 56 years, Ned A. Moore, PhD, was at her side.  They sat at the same table in Miss Whitley’s first grade in Windsor, North Carolina.  Her parents were John R. and Mary C. Hunter of Windsor.

She was a graduate of Windsor High School and Chowan College.  While at Chowan, she served as President of the Women’s Judiciary.  She was a member of Wheeler United Methodist Church and was very active in the United Methodist Women. While serving with the District UMW, she organized a number of trips to Nashville, Savannah, and New York.  She was serving as President of the Wheeler UMW at the time of her death.  Mary loved bridge, but because of friends and fellowship – not the cards.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary is survived by her husband; her two sons, Aaron and Craig; her furry friend of sixteen years, CoCo; sister, Martha (Binkie) Crowder and her husband, Rev. Jim D. Crowder; two nephews, Nolan and Ethan Crowder; and niece, Holley Crowder.

The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 pm on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Wheeler United Methodist Church, 211 Sanders Street, Blountville, TN. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Harrison Bell, Rev. Chris Brown and Rev. Jim Crowder officiating.  Burial will follow in East Tennessee Cemetery, 2639 Highway 75, Blountville, TN. Pallbearers will be Claudia Tustin, Diane Maleski, Kathy Butler, June Reed, Nancy Ledford and Sue Tarpley. Honorary pallbearers will be Fran Roosevelt, Heather Nicely, and Kathy Bright.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Memorial Fund of Wheeler United Methodist Church, 211 N. Sanders St., Blountville, TN 37617.
