Walter Paul Graham, Sr., 69, of Kingsport, died at his home on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 after an extended illness. Born in Scott County, VA, he had resided in Kingsport most of his life. Walter had worked as a heavy equipment operator at Davis and Sons Construction (Vic Davis) for 35 years. He was a Deacon at Glenwood Community Church in Hiltons, VA for over 30 years. Walter enjoyed spending time with family, especially working on vehicles with his brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Virginia Graham, and sister, Audrey Graham.
Walter is survived by his wife, Patricia F. Graham of the home; daughter, Amanda Laster (Tim), Kingsport; 2 sons, Walter “Little Walt” Graham, Jr. (Amanda), Kingsport, and Josh Graham (Aly), Kingsport; 6 grandchildren, Hubert Austin Graham (Karla), Brittany Gibson (Stacey), Isabella Graham, Emilee Graham, Chase Graham and Carter Graham; great-granddaughter, Jameson; 4 sisters, Mary Bright, Kingsport, Louise Bishop (Sonny), Kingsport, Teresa Christian (Jeff), Church Hill, and Janet McGuire (Myron), Jonesborough; 5 brothers, James Graham, Gate City, VA, Robert Graham (Bae), Jonesborough, Gary Graham (Teresa), Hiltons, VA, Mike Graham (Ruthie), Gate City, VA, and Hubert Graham (Tammy), Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with Rev. Ronnie Horne, Rev. Rex McMurray and Rev. Tommy Osborne officiating.
The graveside service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James, Robert, Gary, Mike, Hubert, Tyler Graham, and Colby Graham. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter, Josh, and Austin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
